Details:

Our administrative team will be working together with TEA guidance over the next few weeks to complete a plan that best serves the needs of PISD students/families and community. We will be asking for your input during this process though the form of a survey about measures you would like to see in place to help you feel more comfortable about your child returning to school. Please be patient and positive as we work very hard to meet the needs of our students and work within the parameters of the state. Our goal is to release a full Back to School plan the week of August 3rd and begin classes August 13th. Online instruction will be very different from what you experienced in the spring. Students will have to be engaged for a specified amount of time to be counted present. Grades will be given to all students according to our normal grading guidelines. The Texas Education Agency has provided general guidance regarding the 2020-2021 school year. The health and safety of our students and staff is and will remain a priority. In order to continue to prepare for the opening of the 20-21 school year, we need you to respond to the following survey on or before July 15 for each student. The district plans to offer two options for receiving instruction. Both options will look very different from what students and families have experienced in the past. Please review the general guidelines of the learning options before responding. This plan is as of July 8, 2020 and is subject to change. Option 1- Face to Face - In School Learning In person attendance and instruction Modified Social Distancing Guidelines Heightened health protocols Increased attention to cleaning, including daily sanitizing of the buildings and buses. Partnerships- all of us monitor kids and keep them HOME when sick. Option 2-Online/Distance Learning (Asynchronous) Virtual Learning (Google Classroom Platforms/ Google Meets) DAILY ATTENDANCE LOGIN REQUIRED 100% online- submitting assignments DAILY in a designated time frame Grading Policy the same as those in school Must have RELIABLE internet Students may be required to test onsite after school hours.
